Green and Natural Mascaras

Last month I read Kimberlyloc’s Comprehensive Mascara List of Reviews so my mind went into high gear thinking about the green & natural mascaras in my routine.  My lashes have good length, but they are what the women in my family refer to as “umbrella lashes,” meaning they basically curl down not up. For a long time, being able to find a natural mascara that held curls well AND added shape was very difficult so I was going the traditional, dirty Maybelline route. Alas, green beauty has come a long way in the last few years and mascaras more so in the last year so I am really happy to say I’ve found some champions to help me. Below are the current green mascaras I have in rotation, listed in order of favorite to least favorite.

  1. 100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Mascara in Black Tea: This has really been my ROCKSTAR green mascara since I purchased it this winter. It lengthens, volumizes, holds a curl REALLY well, and doesn’t smudge after a long day. This mascara also dries pretty quickly, in terms of others on this list, so I don’t have to worry about letting it dry for long before doing other things in the eye area. A few extra coats also add more volume without big clumps – always a plus.
  2. Physicians Formula 100% Natural Origin FakeOut Mascara & Jumbo Lash Mascara: I bought these two during a buy one get one free sale (true beauty sale sucker!) and while they aren’t the cleanest mascaras, they do a good job at both adding volume and length with just one swipe.
  3. Pacifica Stellar Gaze Length and Strength Mineral Mascara: I got this in my Goodebox a few months ago, and while I don’t use it regularly, I’d say it’s a once a week type, more so for when I want to have a light mascara day. It does add some length, but not nearly as much volume as I like and the brush is sooo big, it’s very difficult to apply without some smudging.
  4. Benecos Natural Mascara Maximum Volume: I recently got this via #pemjo and it’s probably tied with Pacifica, but it’s newer so I’ve worn it less often. True to Pemjo’s reviews it is a little wet so it takes longer to dry than i wish it did, but it does still hold a curl well… surprisingly. However, I do have to say that it’s not as true to its “maximum volume” name. If I want volume from this mascara it takes effort & time as I’d have to apply at least 3 coats and each coats needs a few minutes to dry. That said, it’s a good regular day mascara though it also smudges a little by the end of a long day.

On my list to still try: Pure Anada, W3ll People’s Expressionist Mascara, Lauren Brooke Cosmetiques Strengthening Mascara, Josie Maran’s GOGO Natural Volume Argan Mascara, Lavera Double Black Mascara, Afterglow Cosmetics Pure Soul Mascara,  Alima Natural Definition Mascara (which came in my #ANFGB Goodebox #2) and probably many more!

What are your favorite green mascaras? Are you still using dirty mascaras?

  1. Thanks for the shoutout! It’s funny to see how different lashes react to different mascaras. I’m wearing the Pacifica mascara today (also got it via Goodebox), and it’s not too shabby. The drier formulas work well for my lashes because they can’t handle the extra weight of the wetness! I’m looking forward to trying W3ll People and I believe Josie Maran just released a new one, too. Happy mascara searching! xoxo

  2. Thanks for reading & commenting. Lashes are a league of their own, but so glad there are more green/natural options now than a few years ago! Drier ones also work better for me because if I use wetter ones the curl does NOT hold well for me! Josie Maran did just release another one, I’m looking forward to checking it out! xx

  3. I cannot say how much I agree with you! 100% pure is definitely my favourite green mascara as well. Ive tried ones from Earth’s Beauty and Living Nature and was thoroughly disappointed – so much fall-out! I also really like the physician’s formula ones as well.

Great review! I would love if you took a look at my blog as well 🙂 http://www.Courtneysvlog.com
    Thanks!
